Building a wilderness-forged college website

Wyoming Catholic College offers something no other school in America does: a Great Books education lived out on horseback, in the backcountry, and away from screens. Their old website said none of that.

The Challenge

A four-year experience that has to be felt, not listed.

Prospective families arrived curious and left confused. Program details were buried, the imagery didn’t match the reality of life in Lander, and there was no clear path from “interesting” to “request info.”

We built the new site around five things you won’t find at any other college in America — and made every page end with a next step.

The Opportunity

Launching a school from scratch means launching a brand from scratch. South Bay Classical Academy needed prospective families to trust an institution that didn’t exist yet — no campus to walk through, no yearbook to point to, no alumni to vouch for it.

The website had to do the convincing on its own: translate a 2,000-year-old educational philosophy into something that felt warm and current, move first-time visitors toward the interest list, and be ready well ahead of the Fall 2026 opening.

Designed to hold up on a phone in a truck with no signal.

Most prospective families first find WCC on a phone. The layout was built to compress cleanly — the wilderness photography and the five differentiators stay legible and scannable at any width.

“We opened our interest list expecting a trickle. Mission by Design gave us a brand families believed in before a single classroom was furnished, helping us build momentum, trust, and excitement from day one.”

The Results

Every section — from the founding motto to the Fall 2026 countdown — was designed to move a first-time visitor one step closer to the interest list, without ever feeling like a sales page.

Your mission is too important to market the wrong way.

Wyoming Catholic College had built something rare: a rigorous Great Books education, a required semester of horsemanship, ten weeks of wilderness expedition, and a Roman and Eastern Catholic community — all in one four-year program. The old site undersold every bit of it.

The Approach

Rather than write another “About Us” paragraph, we structured the entire homepage around the five concrete, provable things a family cannot get anywhere else — then let each one earn its own real estate.

01

100% Discussion-Based Classes

No lectures. Every class is a seminar built on the Great Books.

02

Ten Weeks of Wilderness

A required outdoor leadership program — no experience necessary.

03

A Fast From Cell Phones

Students give up their phones for a semester, by design.

04

Roman & Eastern Catholic Community

Formation across both liturgical traditions, side by side.

Strategy-Led. Design-Driven. Impact-Focused.

We combine strategic thinking with creative execution to deliver digital experiences that inspire, engage, and drive measurable results.
